Joelle Faulkner is the founder and CEO of Area One Farms. At Area One Farms, she created a farmer-centric equity model to help scale Canadian family farms and deliver premium investor returns. Area One Farms has raised four funds and invested $480 million in the acquisition and improvement of over 200,000 acres. Area One Farms works with 40 families and has saved 4 from bankruptcy by partnering and providing strong mentorship and support. Joelle remains focused on how to build stronger family farms and rural communities through the work of Area One Farms, and helps educate institutions about not only the asset class, but also how to think through the potential ESG outcomes that they can effect through investment.

Prior to Area One Farms, Joelle worked at Bain & Co., Morgan Stanley, Onex and Stanford University. Ms. Faulkner holds degrees in Engineering and Business from Western; Law from Oxford; and a Master of Laws and Certificate in Biodesign from Stanford University. She is a Rhodes Scholar, Fulbright Scholar, a member of the New York Bar Association, one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, and sits on the Business Council of Canada.
