Joseph Mazon

Chair, Investment Committee

Mr. Mazon joined the Board of Directors of Nevada Trust Company in 2017. Mr. Mazon  serves as Vice President and Treasurer and is responsible for the equity and capital of Nevada’s oldest independent trust company. He also chairs the investment committee which is responsible for the strategy and asset allocation recommendations for various portfolios at the trust company.


Mr. Mazon founded Conexus Partners in 2017 and serves as a Managing Partner.  Conexus Partners is a private equity styled real estate partnership and fund that acquires, manages and liquidates investments in timberland, agricultural land and ranch land in the United States. In his leadership capacity, he is responsible for investment strategy and policy, capital and asset allocation, portfolio construction, and performance.


Mr. Mazon has nearly 30 years of experience in asset management and prior to establishing Conexus spent 20 years with MetLife, one of the largest global providers of insurance products.  During his tenure, he managed and traded in excess of $300 billion in assets and held various leadership positions.  Most recently, he was Senior Vice President and Head of Institutional Solutions Group within MetLife’s Investment Management Division and managed the separation of Brighthouse Financial’s investment division from MetLife.  Previously, he was Head of Investment Grade Trading and Portfolio Manager of MetLife’s U.S. investment grade portfolio.  He also served as Senior Portfolio Manager and Strategist of the firm’s Portfolio Management Unit, responsible for capital allocation and management of assets including equity and fixed income securities, alternative investments, derivative instruments, and real assets including timberland, agricultural land, and commercial real estate.  Mr. Mazon began his career at CIGNA as a portfolio manager and trader specializing in the management of U.S. Government securities and Money Market portfolios.


He received a Bachelor of Arts dual degree in Finance and Marketing from Central Connecticut State University and his Master of Business Administration in Investment Finance from the University of Hartford.  Mr. Mazon is actively involved with nonprofit conservation groups and serves on the boards of Ducks Unlimited, Inc., Ducks Unlimited Canada, the Desert Wetland Conservancy and serves on the investment committee of The Camp Fire Conservation Fund.
